Contractors Academy

Construction work planning

We are excited to announce that the Black Wall Street Chamber of Commerce will present the Black Wall Street Contractors Academy this June!

The Black Wall Street Contractors Academy, formerly known as the BWS Apprentice Project, is a developing program that originated in 2021 from our beloved Sherry Gamble Smith. The concept was proposed through the application process for the Tulsa Area United Way's Social Innovation Grant.

Today, the Black Wall Street Contractors Academy is a four-week program that specializes in solving the problems of equitable, timely, and affordable career training by providing classroom instruction and field training to adults. The program will teach introduction to construction, architecture, and design filling vacancies where skill gaps have made hiring difficult. Our primary goal is to recruit interest from individuals who are unemployed, under-employed, or looking to reskill.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us.

This program will begin on Saturday June 3rd and continue through Friday June 30th.

A virtual open house to learn more will be hosted on May 9th.
